January 1993, we visited the Hill farm in central Indiana, purchased
2 geldings, no mares, don't need that hassle. Then needed to have small
barn built, shoved snow to allow building. Three years later, another trip
to the frigid Hill farm, young filly with long eyelashes was standing
in a large group of pigs. She winked she wanted a new home. That's it,
no more. National Show and Sale couple years later, 2 more geldings
were heading to a new home. That's it, no more! Summer of 1998, we had auctioned property, home, and accumulated stuff. Packed 5 horses, 2 goats in trailer, and 4 cats in back seat of pick-up, moved to high plains of Eastern New Mexico (see Fauxphotos). Someone had sent for Illinois sale book, dragged trailer to the sale in Fall of 1998, yep, 2 new young ladies stepped off trailer to meet their new playmates. Several days of repairing hot wires due to chase games at night with playmates. Now that's it, no more!! Yep, wouldn't you know, the 3 ladies somehow became pregnant fooling with the 3 boys from Tudor Oaks. January 2000, early foaling produced 3 new fillies. These precious little ones are well on their way to being adults (see photos of our fillies). Sadly, one lady has turned in her notice, she is heading to the mountains near Pecos, NM, to live at Bear's Ranch Haflingers. Seems there is a big fellow there she wants to meet -- Wesley, aka "Bud". Don't know what Gary and Rexan Bates whispered to her, but she wants to leave. That's the story. In time, others will hear whispers and depart. A serious whisper for the whole group some days could take them all. Check frequently, there are lucky days. |
